Meet MTC Nashville’s Matt Gantner – Baseball, Trucks and a Major League Connection

It is said that everyone has a past – and with McMahon Truck Centers of Nashville’s Used Truck Specialist Matt Gantner, that past is anchored firmly in the iconic pastime of America – baseball!Before coming to MTC Nashville – Matt was a standout baseball player at High Point University, graduating not only with a degree in Business Management –  but with school records for most hits and doubles in a single season – a record that still stands today!

Matt’s love of baseball and subsequent success at the sport wasn’t a big surprise to many – especially since his own father was a former standout second baseman for the Milwaukee Brewers.

Matt’s father Jim was a 12th-round draft pick in the 1974 amateur draft, and after spending two years in the minor leagues, he was called up to the Brewers.
Matt’s father spent the  next 17 years in the Big Leagues with Milwaukee, collecting over 1600 career hits and breaking records with his defense in the field.

 

Gantner also had the good fortune of pinch-running for Hank Aaron in Aaron’s final Major League game on October 3, 1976. Gantner was elected to the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005, and still helps coach in the Milwaukee Brewers organization today.

Matt and his wife Brooke now reside in the Nashville area, and just this past January added to the Gantner name legacy with a son of their own, Luca James. Who knows?  – maybe a future Major League Star!
