Nashville Mobile Truck Repair Update: Two New Trucks, Rapid Rise in Requests

Aug 2, 2024 | Featured News, McMahon Truck Centers Lawrenceburg, McMahon Truck Centers Nashville

At Nashville McMahon Truck Centers, demand for mobile truck repair service has accelerated rapidly this year. We asked Michael Cooper, Mobile Service Manager, McMahon Truck Centers-Nashville, for all the details.

Q: Have the calls for mobile truck repair service increased recently?

Since the beginning of early spring our calls have increased an average of 30% – 40%.

Q: Have you added any mobile repair trucks in 2024?  If so, how many and why?

Our mobile service department has added two new units this year. This was due to higher demand for mobile services from customers, and to grow the mobile business for the future.

Q: Are you offering any new mobile truck repair services?

We are now offering mobile A/C repairs, where our technicians can fully evacuate and recharge an A/C system.  We also offer weekly inspection for our customers and repairs with service contracts as well. We are able to remotely monitor the customer’s vehicle health and contact them when issues arise – before they become a major failure.

Q: What time of year do you get the most calls for mobile service?

From early spring to late fall.

Q: Have the types of requests for mobile truck repair services changed?

As word of our services has spread, more customers have learned that we can do most repairs on site, depending on the environment.  If there is not a building to keep the truck in, we minimize components being exposed to the environment by sending it to the shop.  Otherwise, other than a full engine swap, we can do the repairs on site.

Q: Are you doing anything differently as far as training/certifying your mobile service techs goes?

We are training our technicians not just on our Mack products, but also with more focused training on Bendix, Allison, and other manufacturers.  We have all new technicians train a minimum of 60 days in shop. They do not go on the road until they are approved by the training technician and the shop supervisor.

Q: Is the percent of your service work that is being done by mobile service increasing? If so, by how much?

We are seeing an increase average of 30% and more. Because of our technicians’ extensive training and field experience, customers have started asking us to do more of their normal maintenance.

Q: How does Nashville’s mobile service continue to stand out from the competition?

Our technicians prove to our customers that they are willing to work with them on times they have available for repairs. We inform the customer of issues we see that help them avoid extended downtime for their trucks. We follow and provide recommend services from the manufacturer. All this helps prevent components from failing while the customer’s truck is driving down the road.

Q: Is there any other Nashville mobile service news from 2024?

We are working to make ourselves even more available for individual customers and fleets.

Q: What do you think is the best thing about Nashville’s mobile truck repair service?

Our technicians, and how we can monitor your trucks’ health remotely and inform you of issues that needs attention.
