Interested in renting a truck? Trying to decide between renting and leasing? Read on for helpful information.
How do I rent a truck from McMahon Truck Leasing?
- You can arrange a rental by phone or via email.
- Rent for a day or up to a year.
- Daily rentals are the most common. 70% of truck rentals from McMahon are for under two weeks.
- You provide your own insurance.
- Rentals are available for commercial operations.
What types of commercial trucks does McMahon rent?
We rent Mack, Volvo, Hino, and Freightliner trucks, and Autocar yard trucks. We rent 26-foot box trucks, 26-foot flat-beds, tandem axle day cabs and sleepers. We also rent dump trucks, and other trucks depending on what our customers need.
How does truck service work for commercial truck rentals?
Unless there’s damage, we cover your service. We handle the service and PM in our shops. We’ll also use our convenient-for-you mobile truck service for PM work.
How does renting a truck from McMahon differ from leasing a truck?
You have a long-term agreement with leasing. Leasing contracts are typically from two to six years. With rentals, you have an agreement, not a contract, so you can turn the truck back in anytime that works for your business.
With leases, you can have your company’s information on the truck (and McMahon has a vendor who can help you with that).
How do I know if I should lease or rent a truck?
Truck rentals are a good choice for temporary vehicle needs:
- Truck(s) down
- Short-term spikes in product deliveries
- Seasonal needs for additional trucks
- Demo a vehicle type before buying or leasing long-term
If you are going to need a truck 60-70% of the time, truck leasing will be more convenient and more economical for you. And you’ll save time picking up and dropping off a rental.
How far ahead do I need to contact McMahon about renting a truck?
We work with you. If you have a hot load and a truck down, we’ll get you a rental as quickly as possible to help you get your products delivered on time. If you have a seasonal need for trucks, we will help you plan months in advance. For instance, we work with nurseries who want to set up rental agreements in November and December for the following spring, as part of end-of-year planning.
Does McMahon always have rental trucks available?
We typically have enough trucks on hand to rent. If we do not have a specific type of truck a customer needs, we can often get one from one of the other McMahon locations. According to Mike Refsnider, McMahon General Manager of Leasing and Rental, from October 2020 through the end of 2021 was McMahon’s most challenging time for rental truck supply. During that stretch, McMahon would even source rental trucks from competitors to help longtime customers get the trucks they needed. “Our goal is to get product delivered,” said Refsnider.
What types of businesses rely on McMahon for rental trucks?
“It could be anybody from a packaging company to a heating and air company to a landscape company, to recycling companies, tire manufacturers, really any type of manufacturer of a product. And the home building industry,” said Refsnider.
“Typically, they either lease trucks from us or they own vehicles, and they need additional vehicles…could be an increase in productivity, additional product to move,” he said.
